Kapaʻa Poi Factory has been producing delicious products and supporting the Kauaʻi taro industry since 1947! Over
the years, we have been well-known in the community for producing poi, kulolo, tofu, and aburage. We are currently focusing on kulolo production, processing over 59,000 pounds of taro per year and providing a reliable
sales channel for island taro farmers.
Kapaʻa Poi Factory was operated by brothers Kenneth and Koon Chow Lai until 1983 when Sophie (sister of the Lai brothers) and Kenneth Fujinaga took over the business. Today, Rankin and Susan (daughter of Sophie) run Kapaa Poi Factory with help from older and younger generations of the family.
Kapaʻa Poi Factory has been making fresh kulolo on the Island of Kauaʻi every Thursday since 1947 and is committed to using quality ingredients. The kulolo recipe has been perfected over the years and is produced ensuring the quality that repeat customers come back for.
Our kulolo has traveled the world, giving many a taste of Hawaiʻi, it has been featured at Kamehameha Schools Hoʻolaulea events for decades, and has been a staple at countless special occasions. For many, a traditional Hawaiian meal is not complete without a slice of kulolo!
We look forward to sharing this special treat with you!
